// ONE CHAT THREAD · FULLY OFF-GRID

One chat thread. Every radio.

MeshThreader takes the confusing mess of radios and digital modes — JS8, APRS, Meshtastic, NOAA Weather Radio — and streamlines them into one chat-thread messenger handled seamlessly in the background. No internet required. Built off-grid first, for anywhere you go.

MeshThreader Full Kit

Digital modes, combined

MeshThreader bridges four amateur radio digital modes into one chat experience. Click any one to learn what it is and how MeshThreader uses it.

The Full Kit is the complete hardware build — every protocol, every automation, every tool running together on a dedicated Raspberry Pi with the radios pre-wired. MeshThreader Lite brings a similar experience to your desktop today in a lighter form; the Full Kit is the full-power version — more capable, always on, and built as a turnkey off-grid appliance.

The Full Kit is in development. Start today with MeshThreader Lite Tools and Lite APRS Chat — the auto-JS8 and APRS pieces that make the Full Kit run, packaged for the desktop you already have. MeshThreader Lite (the full desktop chat experience) is next, then the Full Kit itself. When it's ready, it'll feel like coming home.

The full hardware & software experience
  • One unified inbox — every conversation across every radio, threaded by contact. No more switching apps or hunting through logs to remember what was said where.
  • Cross-radio message store — a friend can leave you a message on any band; it gets delivered the moment their signal hits any of your radios. And your station can act as a mailbox for third parties, holding mail for others until they show up — with the deposit and pickup transports allowed to differ. Someone leaves mail on JS8, the recipient picks it up on Meshtastic.
  • Identity merging — your friend's mesh node, callsign, and APRS path are all the same person. MeshThreader knows it, and you only see one chat thread per person.
  • Field Console — operate your home rig from a Meshtastic node in your pocket. Read incoming HF traffic on the mesh, reply from anywhere the mesh reaches. (Also in Lite.)
  • Live home dashboard — sunrise/sunset with a date explorer for any past or future day, live GPS + heading, node health at a glance, AP hotspot status, today's traffic highlights, propagation and heard-station rollups. Everything you'd want to check before keying up.
  • The Reach tab — for every contact, calculating when they're reachable across every radio mode you both use. Computed from your real history, not propagation guesses.
  • CommStat / AmRRON STATREP interop — decodes standard 12-category status reports off JS8, translates them into plain English (color-coded per category), files them in a searchable SITREP tab, and alerts you the moment a received report shows a red condition. Originate reports of your own from a thread composer, an automatic beacon, or a Meshtastic DM from the field. Wire-format compatible with CommStat.
  • NOAA Weather Radio built in — SAME alert decoding with GPS-aware retuning as you move. Tornadoes, AMBER alerts, civil emergencies — surfaced automatically. And received alerts get rebroadcast in plain text over APRS, JS8, and Meshtastic (DMs and groups), fully configurable — so your station becomes the local weather-alert relay for anyone on any radio.
  • Self-healing hardware — Meshtastic USB serial drop? Reconnects itself. AP hotspot WiFi adapter wedged? Unplugs and replugs itself in software. Runs unattended for weeks without needing a hand.
  • Listens to everything, parses it all — every JS8 decode, APRS packet, and mesh heartbeat logged, parsed, searchable. Heard-station rollups, propagation patterns, "best times to reach" — all from your real history.
  • Auto-bridges between radios — short-range mesh messages can relay over HF; long-range HF calls land on your local mesh. Distance and band become invisible.
  • Operator controls — remote reboot from your handheld, absolute JS8 TX kill switch, encryption-mode misclick guard. The kind of controls that matter when you're not sitting at the desk.
  • Headless and quiet — runs on a Raspberry Pi tucked next to your radios. Control it from any phone or laptop on your local network.
  • Built for off-grid — every piece engineered to function without internet. Tailscale optional for remote access when you do have it.
